Course Description
Shamanic Psychotherapy Training is for those who want to become psychotherapists with strong spiritual shamanic bases. It is also a great way for those with an existing practice to strengthen their skills or those looking to deepen their own personal and spiritual growth.
Shamanic Psychotherapy is one of the most inclusive approaches in the art of self-transformation. It combines the ancient ways of healing with, and through, Spirit. Conscious exploration of the body and psyche is used to promote a healing of the self and environmental responsibility. It can take one into an intense life changing process and deep spiritual connection. Shamanic Psychotherapy is rooted in a passionate love for the Divine Mystery, the Earth and Human journey.
Our purpose is to refine the ability of the student so they are: empathetic to their environment, focused, to trust in the Spirit as well as creating a safe environment for oneself and others. It explores the literature of many practices and traditions to help students develop and complete the course with their own unique approach to Shamanic Psychotherapy. To accomplish this we ensure each student receives individual attention and encouragement of their own natural gifts.
Our program is following the number of hours required for the “work in progress” Ontario regulation for Psychotherapy.
Course Format
During the two first years students will work intensely on their own emotional / spiritual clearing and growth as well as facilitating each other's processes. The third year is dedicated to clinical practice and supervision, group leadership skills and refinement of the therapist's natural gifts to create their own signature as Shamanic Psychotherapist.
The Program follows traditional western training as well as the ancient model of shaman's apprenticeship, where one learns through example, oral tradition and living experience. It includes class attendance; home assignments - independent studies; reading assignments, spiritual practice; personal psychotherapy process; clinical practice; supervision and case study.
The experiential program runs on 4-day residential intensive modules out of town at Northern Light Centre in Collingwood country side.
There are seven modules per year. To find out when they start click here.
There are also several ceremonies that are to be attended by students at various occasions and dates.
A reading course also part of the program and it can be done before the experiential training, during it of after it.
Also part of the program is individual psychotherapy that each student needs to seek with a professional while participating in the program.
